Jeju Chilmeoridang Yeongdeunggut
Jeju Chilmeoridang Yeongdeunggut is a shamanic ritual that is held in the second month of the lunar calendar, at least partly at Chilmeoridang Shrine in Geonip-dong, Jeju, which was once a small fishing village. The rites pray for calm seas as well as a plentiful harvest in terms of both fishing and farming. It begins on the first day of the second month of the lunar calendar with a welcome rite, and progresses with a number of different ceremonies related to the Dragon King and Yeongdeung, who is a goddess of the wind and sea. Rites end on the fourteenth day of the second lunar month with a farewell ceremony. The Jeju Chilmeoridang Yeongdeunggut was classified as National Intangible Cultural Heritage in 1980, and inscribed onto the UNESCO Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity in 2009.

Yeongsanjae
Yeongsanjae is the ritual re-enactment of Buddha’s delivery of the Lotus Sutra sermon on Mount Gridhrakuta (Vulture Peak) in Bihar, India and involves the making of offerings, rites, music and dance. Buddhist tradition dates this event to over 2,500 years ago whilst written records certainly show that it was being performed during the early Joseon Dynasty period. Today the Bongweonsa Temple Yeongsanjae Preservation Association performs the ritual regulary to pray for modern day concerns and a public ritual is performed annually in early June. Yeongsanjae is also performed on the 49th day following a person's death. It was classified as National Intangible Cultural Heritage in 1973, and inscribed onto the UNESCO Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity in 2009.
